Message from the President

September 9, 2010
Dear Fellow Cabin Owners:
Fall is upon us and it’s time to invite you all to our next membership pot luck luncheon. The date has been changed to September 25 to avoid conflicts that had arisen with our earlier date. The time remains at 11:30 AM and we will again gather at the Nile Valley Church on Highway 410 just above the slide detour. The program is still being set and we will let you now as soon as we have it nailed down. As always, plan to have fun and enjoy the company of your fellow cabin owners. One thing we do need to discuss is a new set of bylaws for our organization. The current bylaws are woefully outdated and nearly impossible to abide by. For the past year a committee led by our Secretary, Maureen Bell, has been redrafting the bylaws. Over the past few weeks the entire Executive Board has been engaged and we feel we have a quality product to present to you. A copy of our proposal has been mailed to each member for review and we invite your comments.
The pace of activity for your CPCOA is slowing a bit now that Congressman Hastings’ bill to bring fairness to our fees is moving through congress. He is gaining support for the bill and the National Forest Homeowners Association remains vigilant in helping to move the bill through congress. Each of us still need to pay attention to this issue and continue to write our elected officials to let them know what we expect.
Lastly, I want to give a big thanks to Jack Selby for his dedicated service to this organization. He has contributed more than we can ever repay. Jack has resigned from the organization, effective September 1 as he no longer owns a cabin. Our webmaster Dave Leinweber graciously agreed to fill Jack’s position as Vice-President until the next election. His name will be placed in nomination at the meeting on the 25th and we encourage anyone else who is interested to run for this position. If you are interested or have questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to seeing you on the 25th.
