Message from the President

Dear Fellow Cabin Owners:

As some of you may be aware, the Forest Service is going to take another look at its cabin appraisal process this summer and will reappraise all of the representative cabins in each of the cabin tracts over a period of a few weeks. The Forest Service has hired an appraiser to do this work and they are offering us a chance to become familiar with their process and to get answers to our questions at a meeting to be held in Yakima on the evening of May 14. The time and location have yet to be determined but they will send out letters to each of us to formally notify us of the meeting.

I want to encourage all of you to attend this meeting if possible. This will be the only chance any of us will have to obtain information and offer input. I’ve tried to get Forest Service personnel who are in charge of the appraisal program to join us at our picnic on June 12 but they have declined, saying they are only funded for the May 14 meeting and if we want information we will have to attend.

If you are debating whether or not to attend please keep in mind that this process has a direct impact on our ability to continue to afford and enjoy our cabins.

The following links are to two documents that the Forest Service has provided to me which I encourage you to read. They will help you prepare for the May 14 meeting.

I will keep you updated as I learn more.
