Dear CPCOA members:

I received this message yesterday with regard to the Highway 410 landslide.  I strongly recommend that all of us follow this advice if we plan to spend time at our cabins in the coming weeks and months.

 Mike,

Due to the slide disaster on SR 410, the area Office of Emergency Management organization has activated the Nile Community Emergency Response Team.  We met on Monday to receive our assignments.

For us, the first order of business is to get an accurate listing of families who plan to reside in the mountains west of the SR 410 slide area during the next six months.  Information needed includes number in family, specific medical needs, animals/pets and any resources they are willing to share.  Those who normally go south for the winter are to be encouraged to leave now or in the very near future.

For your organization, your membership should be encouraged to winterize their cabins as soon as possible.  Any time during the next six months they come into their cabin they should let someone at the fire department know where they are going and how long they plan on staying.  It would be best if they forego any planned trips to their cabin.

Any member of your association who is planning to stay at their cabin during the winter should contact me at 509.658.2569 or Pam Brown at 509.658.2407.

This information is necessary as the Department of Transportation is warning us that the temporary road could wash out at any time or the slide could continue causing additional river blockage and home destruction.
